OK - these are songs I've written
that aren't really for kids!

They're still about Jesus and how great he is, and they're still based on the Bible, his living Word to us today -
and I hope they glorify Jesus.
I wrote them just for me really, and they're not intended for congregational singing!
But I've sung them to a couple of people and they've appreciated them,
so here they are for you to have a listen to.
I'm Joseph (of Arimathea)
Mark 15:42-46
This Joseph was (in the end) an incredibly brave and generous man - but wasn't it just too late?
It must have seemed so to him, even though we know better.
This is my attempt to get inside his head...
I'm Joseph, of Arimathea,
Won't you give me the body of Jesus,
Now that he is dead?
I've been waiting my whole life
for God's kingdom to come,
Then I saw him, this Jesus -
teaching, healing.
Here it was, right in front of me:
captives free, sins forgiven.
Then I knew that he had to be -
Messiah! Messiah!
All the council, they knew of him;
selfishness took them over.
Blindly denying the obvious -
Scheming, plotting.
And I should have defended him,
as it was I was silent.
No! If only I'd spoken out -
told them, shown them!
So here I am with the governor,
speaking out much too late
No more hiding or secrecy -
too late, too late!
I've a tomb new and waiting,
it's the best I can do
Roll a stone over all of my hopes -
farewell, Jesus!
