What's going on with Maynard's Groovy Bible Tunes, from day to day...
It's Love that we're talking about!
That's a line from my latest song - currently being tried out by Holy Trinity's "HotShots" kid's club.
It's 1 Corinthians 13:4-6, with a great MGBT-styly groove.
Here are the lyrics:
1. It’s patient, kind and it doesn’t envy:
It’s love that we’re talking about!
It never boasts, it’s not proud or rude:
It’s love that we’re talking about!
Soppy? NO! Kissy? YUCK!
But love is most excellent!
1 Corinthians Chapter 13:
It’s love that we’re talking about!
2. It’s not self-seeking, easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs,
It finds delight in truth and not evil,
it’s love that we’re talking about!
3. It keeps protecting and always trusting
it’s love that we’re talking about!
It always hopes and perseveres:
it’s love that we’re talking about!

Number: 3 | If I was |
It's about time I got this one online - "Party Party" has been around for a little while... We sang it as our theme song for our 2007 Holiday Club. It's just taken me a while to get a recording and sheet music done...
Hope you enjoy it!
Probably not a question many people ask!
But I've been struggling with getting Sheet Music to look good. For years I've used Melody Assistant, and I've been pretty happy with the results , but I've always felt I 'could be better' - a feeling enhanced by the occasional groan about "reading the words" or something from the church music group when we're singing one of the songs!
So I thought I'd try something else. Sibelius? Ha Ha Ha. $$$$$$
I found "Lilypond", which makes fairly big claims for itself, and thought I'd give it a try. Luke 19v10 and King Seekers both have sheet music produced with Lilypond. I'm really impressed - especially with King Seekers. I think it's produced something that's well spaced and very readable.
BUT: it took me HOURS!!! Hours and hours and hours. And now, thinking about setting the sheet music for "Party Party", can I remember how Lilypond works? I've looked at the markup file for King Seekers. Even with my copious comments, can I remember what it all means?!
So I had another go with Melody Assistant - and, with a little fresh thinking, and its lovely GUI, I think I've managed to produce something pretty good - in no time really. So it's back to Melody Assistant for me.
Hi! This is where I'm going to be keeping you up to date with what's going on on the site - more info coming soon!
